During two days of May 30 and 31, 2011 in Hanoi Atomic Construction Import and Export Company (Atomstroyexport) under Russian State-owned Group of Atomic Energy (ROSATOM) coordinated with Vietnam Atomic Energy Commission (VINATOM) to organize the Scientific Workshop on introducing experience in design and construction of nuclear power plants of the Russian Federation.
After nuclear crisis in the world, including the earthquake and tsunami incident which seriously affected to the operation of Japanese Fukushima Nuclear Power, the world has paid more attention to the safety in design, construction and operation of nuclear power plants. For countries which start their nuclear power programs, they have paid attention to the selection of a technology, design and construction of nuclear power plant of high safety and reliability. The Russian Federation, one of the countries with the advanced nuclear industry has introduced and supported Vietnam with the preparation of the first nuclear power plants. The organization of the Scientific Workshop on introducing experience in design and construction of nuclear power plants of the Russian Federation had very useful practical meaning.
Participating in the Workshop were many managers, scientists and engineers from Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Education and Training … and many interested organizations and individuals.
In the Workshop, Russian experts from research institutes, design institutes, nuclear power groups and units under Russian State-owned Group of Atomic Energy (ROSATOM) have presented experience in design, construction and operation of Russian nuclear power plants as well as the high safety and reliability in the design of nuclear power plants constructed in some countries in the world have been verified and highly appreciated.
The Workshop was the opportunity for Vietnamese experts, researchers and managers to discuss, clarify and answer many issues relating to technologies, design and experience in the construction of Russian nuclear industry … for consultations to select the most advanced nuclear power technology for construction in Vietnam for the coming time.
