On June 11, 2012 the Vietnam Agency for Radiation and Nuclear Safety (VARANS) in collaboration with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) organized the Essential knowledge workshop on Probabilistic Safety Assessment (PSA) (11-15/6). Dr. Le Chi Dung – Deputy Director General of VARANS came to attend and address the opening speech.
This is the third workshop in 2012, under the IAEA EBP (Extrabudgetary Program) Pilot Program for Vietnam, that is organized for Vietnamese participants from VARANS, Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute and Nuclear Power Project Management Board under EVN) with the objective of providing VN participants with sufficient training on PSA.
In his opening remark, DDG Le Chi Dung emphasized, VN is strengthening preparative activities for construction of its first nuclear power plant, among that human resources training, especially training technical staff involved in nuclear safety assessment is one of priorities. He appreciated the IAEA EBP Pilot Program for VN that responds current training needs of VN and expressed his sincere thanks to IAEA experts in this workshop.
After the workshop on PSA, from 18 to 22 June, the Joint Training course on Riskspectrum software is taking place for participants from VN and Malaysia.
